Nate reminded me…

…that I have an audience here, and even if things haven’t really moved forward in a great leap, at least I should drop a line and let you all know what we’ve been up to.  Why? Cause you care, and I know that…I truly do. :)

Last Thursday/Friday, we went up to Dover, NH, to catch up with our old friend Scott, someone I had met years ago, and who partially is responsible for introducing me to Nate.  Nate and Scott used to work together at Wildcat Transit, and so they have a long-standing conversation about buses, UNH, and the world of Seacoast New Hampshire.  We were also blessed by a visit with our mutual friend Christine, who is another ex-driver from Wildcat Transit, and an ex-girlfriend to Scott.  It was fabulous to see her, and to get the chance to catch up and realize how old we’ve all been getting lately!

While up there in NH, we had a fabulous dinner (and breakfast the next day) at The Friendly Toast, a quirky, hip little diner/restaurant that is a staple in the Seacoast’s cultural fabric.  They are known for the wide-ranging menu, the kitzchy decorations, and ambiance that brings you back to the “good ol’ days” of a post-war America, but with an edge.  You can check out more about the restaurant here.

So, on the job front, I went into the BPS administrative offices and gave them an updated copy of my teaching license and my college transcript.  Going there, I was very fired up to get a move on getting something going, but as I have discovered, administrative stuff takes time, patience, and a lot of energy to deal with.  I am officially hired as a sub-teacher, but the actual process of getting work hasn’t been made clear to me – apparently I need to get an Access ID and PIN to register on their SubCentral database, and begin working in schools.  Today’s goal: sort it out! I would love to be able to get up tomorrow and get to work, so that’s my plan for the day.

I am so desperate for work, and fired up, so it’s just got to happen.  It’s all up to me, and I will keep you all posted on what is going on.

Thanks for checking in, and I will make a better effort to write here more often.

Side note: save your money in a piggy bank – it’s a heck of a lot more secure these days!
